Read what people are saying about Save Us a Seat!

MK:

This beautifully crafted first novel by Fletcher McHale had me entranced from the first page to the very last sentence.   McHale effortlessly weaves a story which attests to the power and necessity of sincere female friendships.  The writing is flawlessly and believably delivered to the reader with style, grace and humor.  The banter among the friends was so realistic that I found myself laughing out loud through my tears at times.  McHale’s penning genius lay in her ability to bring humor and hope to a topic that is a gloomy topic at best.  When I was done reading, I found myself taking a friendship inventory and being grateful that I had at least one or two Ella Raes and Laines in my arsenal.

In a world where “Pretty Little Liars” and “Gossip Girl” reign supreme and define what female relationships are suppose to look and act like, it was refreshing to read a story that is the true definition of the phrase “best friend forever”.

Linda:

Small town female  friends…the bonds the banter the belly laughs the boo-hoos…Save Us a Seat takes place in Louisiana but in reality could be anywhere. And anyone who ever had a friend or two that they love/loved like a sister will relate. This book is a true page-turner, tho you’ll slow down towards the end, not wanting the story to end. You’ll need some tissue for your tears, you’ll be laughing out loud, and you’ll be so engrossed that when it’s finished you’ll feel the loss! I do have one of those friends…and i’ll be sending her this book.

Melinda:

This was one of the best books I have ever had the joy of reading!  I could not put it down.  This was a beautifully story of the life, love, and loss.  I have never been so emotional while reading a book before.  Several times I had to stop reading to wipe the tears away whether they were from laughter or sorrow.  The characters were incredible; they were strong, loveable, and completely over the top hilarious.  The setting captures the feel of small town life perfectly.  Any of us that have grown up in a small town can totally relate.  The relationships portrayed were heartwarming and described how true BFFs should be.  This is definitely a MUST read!  Just make sure you have your tissues within reach before you start.

Jill:

I have finished this beautiful book about true friendships and difficult life tests. I will admit… I cried, I laughed, and loved every character. I highly recommend this book. The language maybe a little “rough” at times for some readers, but is needed for the authenticity of the story and to show the maturing of the characters. The author truly captures the essence of a small southern town including all the quirks and the huge hearts.

Jessica:

I started it yesterday morning and finished it last night (hate that a nine hour work day interrupted my reading time!). I was quickly drawn in by the story and was kept in page turning anticipation. A wonderful story of love, loss, friendship and redemption.  We should all be so lucky as to have friends and family like those written about in “Save us a Seat”.

J:

If you grew up in a small town (especially a Southern Small Town), Bon Dieu Falls ring familiar to you.  The characters are all believable.  As a matter of fact, you will probably think that you recognize one of two of them.  The story of love, friendship, loss and redemption is a rollercoaster that takes you to all the emotional highs and lows that a novel always aims for, but seldom achieves as successfully as “Save Us a Seat”.  To everyone who has ever had a best friend who was really family…this one is for you!

Book finished! Raw, truthful, cut to the chase suspenseful moment that kept you on the edge of your seat! I laughed, cried and was humbled by the exposure of such a beautiful story! Ready for book no 2 and a movie to tell the story live! Great job and will definitely have a read again to catch all the parts I laughed and cried through!

This book is one of those rare treasures that stays in your mind day after day after day. I finished this book a couple of weeks ago and STILL find myself thinking about this story……a story of TRUE friendship. I was moved with emotion on almost every page from start to finish. I’m like Darla,
ready for book #2 and for the book to be made into a movie. I could actually visualize and hear the characters as the story unfolded. Loved, loved, loved it!!

I have just finished and loved reading this wonderful book. I would recommend this book to anyone with a sense of humor and who cares about FAMILY and FRIENDS. Do not read this book if you do not like to laugh or are afraid to cry. Being about the love and lives of best friends and family in the country town of Bon Dieu Falls, Louisiana, makes it so much more meaningful, since I was raised up in such a place. I could relate with Fletcher McHale in this story, due to the fact, I, too, have lived through the loss of hope and life of my BEST friend, my brother, to this horrible disease, called cancer. Thanks for the good cries and laughs I had while reading this book. I give “SAVE US A SEAT” five stars………………Waiting on the next book!

  5. Maureen says:

By the time we find out about Laine’s diagnosis, I already felt as if I had known these three friends forever. But from that point on, I went through an entire box of Kleenex. I kept telling myself I was finished crying, but the tears would come reappear unbidden. I could feel the pain of Ella Rae and Carrigan as if it were my own. But perhaps I was crying because of the beautiful friendship these three girls had. That is an amazing and cherished thing that not many are lucky enough to experience.

Absolutely enjoyed this book! I laughed, cried and then laughed so hard I cried! Cannot wait until you publish something else.
